Pampered Chef

I am going to a Pampered Chef open house this afternoon.

My niece has decided she wants to sell Pampered Chef merchandise. I don't know why. Seems to me she is busy enough already, what with finishing nursing school and preparing for the arrival of their first child. (My niece and her husband are on the list with Lutheran Social Services to adopt a baby!)

For those of you who have read my books, my niece, Karn, is my big sister, Loretta's, daughter.

So -- if I am going to drive 40 miles to get to the open house -- I had better get hopping!

A Helper Indeed. . .

For the past few days, it has gotten to the point where I can hardly sit down at the computer without Sophie either sitting on the desk beside the keyboard or else parking herself in my lap.

That's because Sophie has discovered the cursor/pointer on the computer screen and thinks it is great fun to chase it and see if maybe she can catch it.

She will sit, waiting, for the cursor/pointer to move, and then she pounces on it.

If I move the cursor to the side of the screen, she will go around to the other side of the computer to see if maybe it didn't come out there -- since she can't see it on the screen anymore. In the process, she often walks on the keyboard, and I have to be careful that she has not given the computer some command that I do not want her to give -- such as shutting down the computer.

I don't know how Sophie discovered this. She is the only cat in the house who watches the cursor and tries to catch it. Randy says he will have to get a laser pointer because he thinks Sophie would enjoy chasing the beam of light.

The other night when I was trying to get some work done, Sophie showed up to sit on the desk, along with one of my other kitties, Sebastian.

Sebastian, though, was not the least bit interested in the cursor. He just wanted to climb down into my lap and sit with me for a while.

I am fortunate to have so much help when I am working in my office. In fact, Sophie even helped me upload this blog entry, and was so much help that she messed up the picture URLs, and I had to go back and start all over again.

If only I could teach her how to answer the telephone, or put stamps on book orders, or how to type and send an e-mail. . .
