THE COLDEST DAY OF THE YEAR

My copies of "The Coldest Day of the Year" have finally arrived. If you would like to order a copy, let me know.

It is appropriate that the books arrived today, too. The temperature this morning was 10 degrees below zero with a 20 mph wind out of the west/northwest and a windchill of 35 degrees below zero. . .

Drastic Weather

Friday morning the temperature was 14 degrees below zero Fahrenheit. It remained cold all day Friday. On Saturday, the weather started to warm up, and by afternoon, the temperature was in the low 30s.

By Sunday morning, the temperature was 32 degrees. And it was raining. It rained all day Sunday with patches of freezing from time to time.

By later Sunday afternoon, the wind had picked up. A strong wind blowing 30 to 40 mph hour. We took Pixie for a short walk at 5 p.m. But Pixie, Randy and I did not feel like being out much longer than what we were.

By Sunday evening, it had started to snow. When I went out to check on the horses at midnight, the temperature was two degrees below zero, the wind was still blowing and it was snowing like a son-of-a-gun. According to the Internet weather, we had a windchill of 30 degrees below zero.

I put hay in the barn for Kajun and hay in Isabelle's shelter for Isabelle. Kajun seemed content to be inside, but Isabelle went to stand behind her shelter out of the wind. I put hay back there for Isabelle so I was sure she would eat something. I would imagine it is too noisy in her shelter with all of that booming wind.
