Sick of Being Sick!
As I have told Randy, I *knew* it was trouble when we stopped into Arby's Friday night for a quick sandwich. The girl behind the cash register was coughing and hacking and sounded like she was sick.
Well, whether she was sick or not is neither here nor there. But what *is* important is that Randy and I are both sick now: coughing, sneezing, fever, stuffy head, headache, sore throat.
All I can say is -- this being sick business gets old fast.
I haven't been this kind of sick in a couple of years. Neither has my husband.
One good thing about it, though. At least we can be whiny about it together!

Surprises
I had two surprises this week!
After the temperature dropped down into the 20s last week and all of my morning glories froze, you can imagine my surprise when I walked outside one morning and saw this morning glory flower nestled among the pumpkins.
All of the other vines froze, but this one apparently was protected enough when we covered the pumpkins to be able to bloom one last time. It was a rare and precious flower, indeed.
The other surprise was when my sister-in-law brought my great-nephew, Eli, over in his new set of wheels on Thursday morning.
Well, the wheels are new to Eli, anyway. Since he has been walking around on his own, he has become reluctant to ride in the stroller. His mom saw a picture of one of her co-worker's children in the car and asked if the child was still using it. The woman said, "no." Then Eli's mom asked if she could buy it from the woman. The lady said, "Oh, no. You don't have to buy it. I will give it to you."
So that's how Eli ended up with new wheels.
He got a kick out of the pumpkin pile. I loaded a couple of smaller pumpkins into the little "trunk" in the front of his car.
Pixie went over to say "hi," too.
Pixie likes kids. She does not like cameras, however. I tried to get her to "sit and stay" so I could take more pictures. But Pixie didn't want a thing to do with it. Strange, too, because under any other circumstances when I tell her to "sit and stay" -- she will stay for a long time. Just not when there's a camera involved. Can't say as I blame her, though. I'm not fond of being on the front side of a camera, either!
The End of the Story
While my sister-in-law was here, she filled me on "the rest of the story" concerning their water pump. When the plumber got it all back together and down in the well again Monday afternoon -- there was still no water. He thought the pump might be above the water line in the well, so he pulled it again Tuesday and added more pipe. Still no water. In the end, it turned out to be a valve that wasn't working properly. My brother and sister-in-law finally got water again Wednesday afternoon.
More Rain
We got more thunderstorms Thursday evening. The weather was very sticky and muggy and humid on Thursday, and Thursday night, the storms started coming through. Nothing severe right in this area. Just some torrential periods of rain. All together we got about an inch out of it. Talk about contrasts. The temperature was in the 20s last weekend. And then during the week it warms up to 80 degrees.
Friday turned out to be an extremely windy day. It was very sticky and humid in the morning, and I thought we would get more storms. It didn't storm, though. It just turned windy with gusts of up to about 40 mph. By Friday evening, the wind had blown itself out.
